Historic initiative for eye-care expands charity’s medical services

Religious charity organization Sik Sik Yuen (the “Yuen”) and the School of Optometry, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (“PolyU”) recently launched a new community initiative to provide eye-care to the needy in Wong Tai Sin.

A Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) was signed to establish ‘The Optometry Centre’ (the “Centre”) with affordable eyesight-testing and timely referral for treatment for children, low-income groups and elderly.

Religious charity organization Sik Sik Yuen (the “Yuen”) celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival by baking a giant organic moon cake for the elderly.

The 28-inch in diameter moon cake was made from natural ingredients of high nutritional value, including 6 pounds of organic barley and 15 pounds organic almond.

The organization dedicated to community and elderly services is sharing it among solitary elderly in Wong Tai Sin district who are socially withdrawn, alone or in shared apartment programme.

Sik Sik Yuen Launches First Flag Day

Donation Supports Medical and Emergency Needs

Sik Sik Yuen (the “Yuen”), religious charity organization, was pleased to launch its first ever Flag Day in Hong Kong today. The charity fundraiser was supported by 1,830 volunteers, aged from 11 to 79, from various segments of society. Proceeds will be donated to support medical and emergency needs in the Wong Tai Sin community.

Mr Lee Yiu Fai, Chairman of Sik Sik Yuen said: “We are very proud that so many volunteers, from all backgrounds and ages, supported our event. Their objective was simply to serve and contribute to the community.”
