Contract to improve & optimise BTs non-UK legacy network

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE:ALU) announced a seven-year extension of its partnership with BT (LSE: BT.A; NYSE: BT), focused on the support of BT's global network operations. The agreement is aimed at further enhancing the services delivered to BT Global Services’ customers and at optimising BT’s non-UK non-IP network.

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today introduced the 5130 Geographic Messaging Services Platform (GMSP), a next-generation, location-driven services platform that supports the delivery of finely targeted “push” messaging, advertising and social networking services to mobile users based on their location. The 5130 GMSP leverages unique Bell Labs innovations to dramatically increase the accuracy and timeliness of location-based services.

Alcatel-Lucent’s Board of Directors (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced on September 1 that it approved the appointment of Philippe Camus as the company’s non-executive Chairman as of October 1st, 2008. Ben Verwaayen is appointed as the company’s chief executive officer. Ben will also join the company’s Board of Directors.

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced its support for the world’s first commercial trial of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA)’s new BCAST Smartcard Profile, an key emerging standard for Mobile TV content protection. This trial is being led by Alcatel-Lucent for MobileOne (M1), a mobile telecommunications service provider in Singapore, and MediaCorp, the country’s leading media company, along with key mobile telecommunications providers SingTel and StarHub.

Alcatel-Lucent to integrate Convergys' Infinys components into its Converged Business Support System (BSS) for both mobile and fixed line operators

At the Management World conference, Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE:ALU) and Convergys (NYSE:CVG) announced they have signed a multi-year non-exclusive agreement to integrate Convergys Infinys [R] applications into Alcatel-Lucent’s Business Support System (BSS) solution. The resulting billing solution combines Convergys' and Alcatel-Lucent’s leading product portfolios to give service providers a single BSS solution that meets today's demands for convergent services.
